Why Many UK Citizens Are Relocating to Thailand

According to multiple surveys and reviews, the number of UK citizens relocating to other countries has reached exodus levels. One report states that over half a million Brits relocated in 2024, with many middle-class and wealthy people choosing Southeast Asia, especially Thailand. The advances in digital tech enable many to work online and this is one reason why so many people are relocating to countries that have much to offer immigrants.

How easy is it to pack up and leave?

Actually, it is not that difficult. You could rent out your UK home or put it on the market, then all you have to do is apply for a visa to enter Thailand, book your flights, not forgetting to take out pre existing medical insurance to cover you for medical treatment, which can be very expensive in Thailand. When you arrive in Thailand, open a bank account and transfer enough money to apply for a long-term visa and to start, you can rent a condo in Bangkok.

Rising cost of living

The UK prices are by far the highest in Europe, energy, transportation and food costs keep rising, yet wages do not keep pace with the increase, meaning a decreased quality of life. Some families simply cannot manage and relocating becomes an attractive alternative and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight to rising costs.

Forced migration

There are millions of male refugees living in the UK, they arrive on inflatable dinghies at Dover, and amazingly, they are welcomed by the government with open arms! This has been going on for a few years and hapless politicians talk about inclusivity, while the migrants are given everything they need and British citizens are basically ignored.  This causes social issues, as many of these migrants commit crimes, yet they do not face arrest, as incredible as that sounds!

Terrible weather

The sun never shines in the UK; chemtrails are said to be responsible for this; the UK government recently announced it plans to block out the sun to reduce global warming, yet the people were never consulted about this. It used to be thought of as a ‘conspiracy theory’, yet the evidence is now overwhelming and finally, the government admitted it.

Failed National Health Service

The NHS seems to be in self-destruct mode and British citizens must wait years for treatment, which is yet another reason to move to other parts of the world. Thailand has an excellent medical sector and many foreigners travel to Bangkok for treatment. On the topic of health, here is a blog about stress-free workouts.

Low quality of life

When you take everything into consideration, the quality of life in the UK is falling dramatically, which leads to more people making the decision to permanently leave. Thailand is high on the list of destination countries and there are many reasons for this; warm weather, low cost of living and colourful culture.

Other European countries are following the UK’s lead and that means more people are looking to leave and many will choose Southeast Asia as their destination.
